About

Festival des Musiques Urbaines d’Anoumabo (FEMUA) is a major urban and Afropop music festival held each year in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, founded by the group Magic System. It brings together leading contemporary African artists for several days of concerts, debates and community events.

Cultural Significance

The festival is a reference point for Francophone Africa’s urban music, offering a high‑profile stage for artists across Afropop, coupé‑décalé, hip‑hop and other contemporary genres. It is also strongly oriented toward social action, with themes that have addressed issues like food security, citizenship and, for recent editions, digital transformation making FEMUA a space where culture, policy and development intersect.
